FDA Guidance Concerning Compounding of Veterinary Pharmaceuticals

This compliance policy guidance from the FDA outlines the approved usage and distribution of compounded veterinary pharmaceuticals.  Commercial distribution, large-scale manufacturing, or compounding of drugs already approved by the FDA could result in enforcement action against pharacists or vets.

If your clinic is offering compounded Phenylbutazone, you should read these guidelines and be aware of the danger it poses to your patients and your practice.  Consider instead prescribing FDA-approved SUPERIORBUTE® POWDER to protect you and your patients while still getting all of the benefits of sweetened Bute.
